![]() ![]() Due to the pandemic, El Pueblo shifted it’s work to address immediate community needs with a Mutual Aid Fund, food distribution, and COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts. They focus on policy change, civic engagement, youth and adult leadership, and cultural celebration and expression. Founded in 1995, El Pueblo’s mission is to build collective power through leadership development, organizing, and direct action so that the Latin American community and other marginalized communities control our own stories and destinies. RLT is proud to partner with El Pueblo on our production of In the Heights. He believes that the visual arts are an integral part of promoting cultural awareness about Hispanic/Latinx people in the United States. His immigrant background, personal history, and education inspired him to explore themes such as social justice, identity, and immigration in North Carolina.
